Professor of economics at Oslo University. Head of the Working Group: Conflict and Economic Performance. Scientific Advisor for the Center of Applied Research, Oslo, since 1978. He was a member of the Committee of the Norwegian Research Council and editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Economics from 1992 to 1999.
