Ph.D. from Yale University. Professor Emeritus of Political Science, of Anthropology and Director of the Agrarian Studies program at Yale. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Center for Advanced Studies on Behavioral Sciences, Science, Technology and Society at MIT, and of the Institute for Advanced Studies of Princeton. Ha has been a scholar of the National Science Foundation, the National Foundation for Humanities and the Guggenheim Foundation.
He has worked on political economics, compared agrarian societies, theories of hegemony and resistance, peasant policies, revolution, theories of class relations and anarchism.
